Then, as now, we were only a five-minute drive from the schools, grocery stores, ball fields, and playgrounds. In 20-30 minutes I could be hiking at Table Rock, swimming on Lake Keowee, tailgating at Death Valley, or walking through downtown Greenville. I did not appreciate it as much growing up, but now that convenience to such diversity is staggering. The biggest testament to the town and community however, is that in 50 years, we never felt the need to lock the doors to the house. Truth be told, we had to hunt down the keys and try them out before even handing them over to the realtor.
